Safeguarding Policy

Last Updated: August 24, 2025

1. Statement of Intent

Oxbridge Maths Tutors is unequivocally committed to the safety, welfare, and protection of all students entrusted to our care. Given the digital nature of our 1-on-1 mentorship, we maintain stringent protocols to ensure a secure, respectful, and strictly professional learning environment.

2. Mentor Vetting and Compliance

Our recruitment process is designed to ensure the highest standards of safety alongside academic excellence.

  • Enhanced Background Checks: Every mentor must pass a rigorous Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check before they are permitted to conduct any sessions.
  • Identity Verification: We conduct thorough identity verification and academic credential checks directly with the respective collegiate institutions (Oxford or Cambridge).
  • Reference Checks: We require professional and academic references to verify the mentor's character and suitability for working with minors.

3. Online Session Protocols

The digital classroom must be a safe space. We have established clear rules for online conduct.

  • All tutorials are conducted on secure, proprietary or vetted platforms that do not allow unauthorized external access.
  • Sessions may be recorded for quality assurance and safeguarding purposes, with explicit prior consent from parents/guardians.
  • Mentors are required to conduct sessions from a professional, quiet environment, and students are expected to do the same, ideally in a communal area of their home.

4. Communication Boundaries

Clear boundaries are essential in the mentor-student relationship to maintain professionalism.

  • All communication must be strictly related to academics and university preparation.
  • Direct communication between mentors and students outside of scheduled sessions should be kept to a minimum and conducted via official, monitorable channels.
  • Mentors are prohibited from connecting with students on personal social media accounts.

5. Reporting Concerns

We operate a zero-tolerance policy for any form of inappropriate behavior, harassment, or safeguarding breaches.

If a student, parent, or mentor has any concerns regarding welfare or conduct, they must refer the matter immediately to our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) via our official contact channels. All reports are treated with the utmost seriousness, discretion, and urgency.
